Most parent’s have heard this from their kids while on a camping trip:

Kid’s Crafts for Camping-easy crafts for campingI always tried to have a quick and easy kid’s crafts for camping stashed in my camp gear. Something that will entertain them for a bit, but also give them room to be creative.

There are so many different crafts that are geared for kids of all ages. Here are a few of my favorite kid’s crafts for camping.

Nature Memory Box

This one is real simple and your kids can learn a lot about nature at the same time. You will need:

  • small shoebox or plastic tote
  • nature handbook (to help identify plants, bird feathers, etc…)
  • marker
  • paper

Plan a nature hike around the area you are camping in. Sometimes, that could just be a stroll thru the campground. Help your kids find an assortment of natural objects. This could include:

  • pretty rocks
  • flowers
  • pine/fir cones
  • bird feathers

You might also have your camera handy to take pics of items that are beautiful, but not portable……..

  • spider webs that are sparkling with dew or rain drops
  • chipmunks and other wildlife
  • odd shaped trees

Once you have all these together, then help your kids identify the assorted nature items. You can use your markers and write on a piece of paper the date, place and description of the each item. Place all in the box and your kids have a Nature memory box.

Nature Collages

Kid’s Crafts for Camping-easy crafts for campingThese are fun and easy crafts for camping even the adults can get into!!! You are gonna need the following:

  • clear contact paper
  • scissors
  • twine/ribbon/string
  • hole punch
  • assorted nature objects (flowers, seeds, grasses, twigs etc…)

Once again, this will get you and your kids out on a nice nature walk and exploring the area you are camping in. (Be sure to give each of your kids a small zip loc baggie to place their nature items they collect in)

Once your back to the campground, measure a piece of contact paper and lay on the table. You can make these any size and shape. I like to do round ones about 8-10 in diameter. (You might place a rock at each corner to hold in place)

Help your kids arrange their collected nature treasures on the contact paper.

When they are done, cut another piece of contact paper and place over the first one.

You can use the hole punch to place a hole in the top and then use the ribbon/twine to make a hanger for your nature collage.

Make some memories on your next camping trip……..let your kids do some easy crafts for camping.
