The other day when I had to pop into Wal-Mart for a few things, I saw a trailer mounted tent.
After doing some research, I found an interesting car roof mounted tent that is called a Rooftop Camper!!!!!

A rooftop camper
So I dug around some more to find out about these handy little tents.
Like one guy quoted ” The rooftop camper will keep you off the ground and away from bugs, critters, mud and dust”.
Well, I do agree with him somewhat…..but if you are camping anywhere in Nevada, I don’t care where you put your tent, you are gonna get dusty!!!
Anyways- here are the highs and lows of these car roof mounted tents……
Most of the different models I found offer the following key features:
- waterproof, breathable fabric
- easy set up
- most models offer the additional awning
- folding ladders for easy access
- screened access doors and windows
Now, as with most ideas that seem quite unique and doable………there are a few drawbacks
to a rooftop camper.
The biggest challenge for me would be the nightly trips I have to make to the little girls room!!
I’m not sure that trying to scramble down that ladder while trying to hurry to the outhouse would be a very wise idea!!!
Some of the other drawbacks would be:
- lack of storage area in the tent
- the cost of the rooftop camper is quite a bit more then a regular tent.
- and, there is the ladder to consider.
Take a few minutes and watch this brief video on the rooftop camper……then let me know what you think. Is this something you would like to do?
Be sure to tweet this to your friends, and don’t forget…….leave your thoughts and ideas in the comment section below!!!!
See ya next week………..
